meet me halfway!

Contemporary dance performance by OFFTANZ Tirol "meet me halfway!" is an invitation to look, a cry to be heard and seen. A group of teenage girls aged between 14 and 16 invite us to meet them halfway between childhood and adulthood: they reach out to us and give us an insight into their thoughts and feelings. They invite us to meet them and listen to them. Adolescents explore the tension between striving for independence and the need for security. They explore the feeling of social isolation, the search for belonging and individuality in times of social media. They express their anger about their powerlessness. How do the youngest members of Generation Z feel? Are their issues so different from those of previous generations? The play accepts ambivalences, uncertainties and contradictions and conveys an image of youth that would be impossible to grasp with words. It was developed through a highly participatory working method in which the young people specified the themes and helped to shape the process.
