WALTER NAGL - Collection Krings

The private collection Krings (Augsburg/DE) includes over 40 works of the Tyrolean painter and sculptor Walter Nagl. We are very pleased about the trust placed in us to look after this collection and to be able to show it publicly for the first time in a complete exhibition conceived as a sales exhibition in our gallery in Innsbruck.
The connection between artist and collector may sometimes be special. Through a continuous and thoughtful collecting activity, the artistic work is very well documented, also in the context of the time, and furthermore offers an absolutely important creative freedom for the artist. The collector couple Klaus and Renate Krings accompanied Nagl and his art since a first encounter in 1980 - a friendship marked by mutual appreciation connected both sides for decades. The exhibition shows a variety of works from the period 1974-2006, including landscapes, still lifes and nudes in oil on canvas or wood, which are characteristic of Nagl's oeuvre as a whole, as well as some rarities that are otherwise hardly available - works from the figurative series 'Wampeler' and 'Ministranten', an early watercolor from a joint painting trip with Erwin Reheis or a masterly monochrome still life in graphite. Also on view are three outstanding small sculptures in bronze (standing / sitting).
A catalog will be published for the exhibition.
