The Tempest or La Isla Bonita

On Isla Bonita, Ariel and Caliban take good care of their deck chairs and the tourists lying on them. Everyone knows that the guest is king! This includes long-term guest Prospero, an elderly gentleman for whom Ariel loves to reenact characters from Shakespeare's play The Tempest at any time, and Caliban, of course, who also loves to play the role of a native savage. Whether it's a longing for exotic summer love, exclusive access to untouched nature, or all-you-can-drink, here the motto is always: With pleasure, madam!

With this production, Calixto María Schmutter not only completes his studies in directing, but also makes his first appearance at an Austrian regional theater after several works at German city and state theaters. Schmutter's works combine a deeply dramatic and theatrical approach with elements of pop and kitsch, narration and imagery, music, sound, and a love of art experiences that are both broad-based and multi-layered.
