The Marriage of Figaro

The world is upside down and revolution is on the horizon! Enraged by Count Almaviva's shameless abuse of power, his servant Figaro, the Countess and her chambermaid Susanna devise a series of intrigues to expose the aristocratic philanderer. In between, the entire castle staff, from disgruntled advocates to singing teachers, gardeners, peasant girls and old frightbats to the ever-amorous page boy Cherubino, get into the act.

Turbulent comic fun with a fatal twist! Only the power of forgiveness saves the good end at the end. On the eve of the French Revolution, Mozart and his librettist Da Ponte invoke the equality of all people in their pursuit of happiness when, in a brief utopian moment, the differences of status, gender, class, origin, space and time disappear.
