MARTIN PILSER - New World

In what is now his third solo exhibition in our gallery, we are showing the latest works by Innsbruck artist Martin Pilser from his magnificent series of coloured pencil works. Martin Pilser's artistic position is without any doubt a special one in contemporary art. This uniqueness is evident not only in his inimitable visual language, but also in the technique he uses. Pilser uses only - well-known - coloured pencils for his work, creating a complexity, density and luminosity in his sheets that would have been almost impossible. In a work process lasting several weeks, plant-like intertwining, often flat ornamentation, staffage and tiny vistas grow into a homogeneous unit. He allows the viewer to immerse themselves in new visual worlds, while at the same time inviting them to discover the overlapping layers of the images.
