TLT chief conductor Gerrit Prießnitz adds a dash of musical theater to his second symphony concert program with excerpts from Richard Wagner'sRing of the Nibelung, taking the TSOI on a journey through Wagner's famous tetralogy. In his
progressive music dramas, he integrated so-called leitmotifs as an additional psychological layer into the music, which also has a monumental effect in the concert hall.

Johannes Brahms, who as a traditionalist was proclaimed Wagner's antipode at the time, announced with a wink a good two decades after his first piano concerto that he had written "a very small piano concerto" "with a very small, delicate scherzo." The "little" second piano concerto, whichcontains ascherzo and consists of four movements instead of three, is more like a large symphony.

We welcome South Korean pianist Jaehong Park to Innsbruck as soloist, who will bring this romantic work, oscillating between cheerfulness and melancholy, to life.
