ABOVE THE RIVER AND UNDER THE SKY

In the new INN SITU exhibition ABOVE THE RIVER AND UNDER THE SKY, Polish artist Maciej Markowicz presents unique, directly exposed colour negatives (‘motiongraphs’) created with mobile camera obscuras on alpine rivers in Tyrol and Vorarlberg. His works allow time, light and movement to be experienced as a fluid state and open up a silent dialogue between landscape, people and the moment. Maciej's works show landscape and people not as fixed motifs, but as states in transition. In his camera obscura, a space opens up for eight seconds in which no place is captured, but rather a moment – a breath between standstill and change. The technology deliberately takes a back seat so that emotion can speak. The result is works that touch rather than depict – inviting each visitor to find their own inner moment within them.

The exhibition at the BTV Stadtforum invites visitors to perceive time, light and movement in a new way.
