The Excursions of Mr Brouček

With “The Excursions of Mr Brouček”, Czech composer Leoš Janáček created an opera in 1920 that combines sharp social criticism with a humorous examination of people's very personal desires. The literate composer, who was always most satisfied with his own libretti, based his work on two stories by Czech author Svatopluk Čech, creating a clash of worlds that lie beyond the imagination of the petty bourgeoisie.
