Drehmomente concert

Johann Sebastian Bach's musical creations are timeless and pioneering like no other – and they work on the most varied and extraordinary instruments. The focus of the 2nd Chapel Concert lies on such an extraordinary instrument, one of the oldest in European music history. Originally invented as a mix of monochord, fiddle, and organ for accompanying vocals in medieval worship, it evolved over centuries into an instrument beloved in both folk and art music: the hurdy-gurdy. Tobie Miller, considered one of the world's leading experts in playing this instrument, uses modern, self-developed techniques on her instrument to recreate the highly virtuosic and complex world of Bach's solo partitas and suites for violin or cello.
