Thirteen Lives (Life Raft)
After an attack on a passenger ship, a group of teenagers find themselves adrift in the middle of the endless ocean – alone, without supplies, without hope. What begins as a community quickly descends into power struggles, fear and brutal decisions. Who gets to live when there isn't enough for everyone?
In his modern adaptation of Georg Kaiser's ‘Das Floß der Medusa’ (The Raft of the Medusa), Fin Kennedy sets the action in an undefined future and creates an oppressive scenario: under the pressure of survival, all morality breaks down. Leaders rise up, scapegoats are sought, and in the end, the harrowing question arises as to whether rescue is even desired anymore.
How far would we go to survive? And is the world that awaits us even worth it?
An intense play about humanity, cruelty and the limits of our actions. At a time when global crises, wars, refugee movements and social divisions dominate our daily news, the play holds up a mirror to us. It shows how fragile solidarity can be – and how crucial it is to preserve humanity even when everything is falling apart.
