Memories of 1976 – 50 Years Since the Winter Olympics

To mark the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Winter Olympics, the Cultural Committee of the Municipality of Axams cordially invites you to a series of events commemorating the time when the Axamer Lizum and Axams were the focus of international attention. The series kicks off with an introductory expert talk featuring historian Wolfgang Meixner, who will shed light on the 1976 Olympic Games with a focus on Axams and the region. Following this, eyewitnesses will take center stage for the remainder of the evening and share their personal memories with the audience. The guests experienced the Games from very different perspectives—as members of the Axams Ski Club, as employees of the Post Office and TIWAG, as a forerunner in the women’s downhill, as a worker at the Axamer Lizum, or as a member of the Olympic Choir—and will recount their duties, encounters, and impressions during those days when the sporting world turned its gaze to Axams.
