HDM in Concert: From Bach to Eric Clapton

The hammered dulcimer and its historical predecessor, the salterio, take center stage in this concert—two instruments whose fascinating soundscapes take listeners on a musical journey through time spanning several centuries.

Hammered dulcimer virtuoso Heidi Wallisch-Schauer and electric guitarist Thomas Wallisch—the duo LILA HOUSE, known for their distinctive blend of folk, jazz, and pop—join forces with historical keyboard instrument specialist Wolfgang Brunner to highlight the extraordinary versatility of this instrument.

The first part presents the salterio in its Baroque-Classical heyday with treasures by Ignaz Joseph Pleyel and original compositions from the 18th century. The program is complemented by a “French Suite” by J. S. Bach, performed by Wolfgang Brunner. An energetic fandango bridges the gap to modern rhythms and the second part, featuring global hits like “The Girl from Ipanema” and songs by Eric Clapton. Interpersonal relationships form the core of this music—particularly the inspiring dynamic between men and women. An evening full of timbres, dance-like energy, and musical encounters.
