In the Silence - Advent Concert
Venue: Gothic Cellar
With the programme ‘In the Silence’, we would like to address themes of transience and farewell in the middle of Advent. The shorter and darker the days become, the more our longing for light increases. In the coldest, most hostile time for nature, hope for new life sprouts, and during Advent, the symbolic light in the silence and the anticipation of the child represent new life in all its fullness.
You will hear works from different eras, such as the medieval Polorum Regina from the Llibre vermel de Monserat, Be still, my soul by Jan Sibelius, the well-known Ukrainian winter song Shchedryk and the German Advent song Es kommt ein Schiff, geladen, the pop song Underneath the Stars, a modern setting of the old Advent hymn Veni, veni Emmanuel and, finally, May it be by the Irish singer Enya, a prayer as strength for the inner search for hope and meaning.
