Jazz at the HDM: Jazz Piano Duo

Georg Vogel and Elias Stemeseder, two pianists originally from Salzburg who now live in Vienna and New York, regularly come together for extraordinary duo projects. With an intuitive, almost telepathic understanding of one another, they create a unique musical universe that transcends all genre boundaries. This evening, they will present a new program for two pianos that expands the repertoire of their debut album DDIOFEO (Schattellit 2022). Improvisation plays a central role, with twenty fingers shaping a fluid, intuitively modulating sound. The dynamics evolve throughout the program across compositionally vague and precisely predetermined fields penned by the pianists. The duo explores improvisational modes of expression, polyrhythmic frameworks, slow lyricism, chordal vehemence, and motivic hide-and-seek to create a continuous chain of associations.
