Jazz at HDM: Jazz Piano Solo II

John Di Martino (born 1959 in Philadelphia), pianist, arranger, and producer, a student of Lennie Tristano and Don Sebesky, is a sought-after veteran of the New York jazz and Latin scene. He has worked with artists such as Freddy Cole, Billy Eckstine, Grady Tate, and Raul Midon. In the 1990s, he was a member of Ray Barretto’s Latin band “New World Spirit,” for which he also arranged music, including “Portraits in Jazz and Clave” (featuring Kenny Burrell, Joe Lovano, James Moody, Steve Turre, and Eddie Gomez) and the Grammy-nominated album “Contact.” John has been the preferred pianist of Janis Siegel (Manhattan Transfer) for years. He is coming to the Haus der Musik Innsbruck with one of his rare solo concerts. Under the title “New York Kaleidoscopes,” an exciting musical journey through the multicultural “melting pot” of New York City awaits us.
