Jazz at HDM: Jazz Piano Solo II
John Di Martino (born in Philadelphia in 1959), pianist, arranger, and producer, student of Lennie Tristano and Don Sebesky, is a sought-after veteran of the New York jazz and Latin scene. He has worked with Freddy Cole, Billy Eckstine, Grady Tate, Raul Midon, and others. In the 1990s, he was a member of Ray Barretto's Latin band "New World Spirit," for which he also arranged, e.g., "Portraits in Jazz and Clave" (feat. Kenny Burrell, Joe Lovano, James Moody, Steve Turre, Eddie Gomez) and the Grammy-nominated album "Contact." John has been the preferred pianist of Janis Siegel (Manhattan Transfer) for years. He is coming to the Haus der Musik Innsbruck with one of his rare solo concerts. Entitled "New York Kaleidoscopes," it promises to be an exciting musical journey through the multicultural melting pot that is New York City.
