Kein leichtes Mädchen-ein käuflicher Liederabend - Theatre

The well-known soprano Elisabeth de Roo, who likes to tread her own artistic paths outside the established opera houses and concert halls, has broken taboos with her play ‘Kein leichtes Mädchen - ein käuflicher Liederabend’ (No easy girl - a song recital for sale) by combining the topic of ‘sex work’, which many people consider dirty, with a classical art song recital and, on the other hand, showing the soul and vulnerability of those people for whom sex work is sometimes a profession, but sometimes also a vocation. Elisabeth de Roo spoke to 98 people who work in sex work for her play. About their self-determined lives in dealing with sexuality and about the social barriers they encounter every day, because the ‘whore stigma’ not only affects sex workers, but also their families and friends. The accusation of human trafficking and paid rape is also omnipresent. However, hardly anyone asks how the people who provide this valuable ‘psycho-hygienic work’ for society are doing. Elisabeth de Roo: "I have summarised the equally harrowing and touching stories of these people in a monologue and added 13 art songs to it. Individual reports from the sex workers thus flow together to form a storyline and give the art songs used their very own meaning. The event will take place outdoors. Please bring a picnic blanket or other seating. In case of heavy rain, the event will unfortunately have to be cancelled.
