Concert: Joseph Haydn
On October 12, 2025, the Stiftsmusik Stams invites you to a special concert in the basilica of the monastery. The program features two masterpieces by Joseph Haydn: Symphony No. 49 in F minor, the so-called “La Passione,” as well as the festive “Harmoniemesse” in B major, Haydn’s last completed composition. While the symphony, with its serious basic mood, counts among Haydn’s most expressive works, the Harmoniemesse stands out as a sublime late work in which Haydn “sums up everything he has learned in a long life.”
The choir of Stiftsmusik Stams and the Paluselli Consort will perform. The soloists are: Eva-Maria Amann (soprano), Maria Zeichart (alto), Samuel Strobl (tenor), and Ivo Köll (bass).
Joseph Haydn himself once said: “My language is understood by the whole world.” – a claim that this performance, conducted by Jannik Trescher in the unique atmosphere of the Stiftsbasilika, aims to fulfill.
