Art Salon Tyrol
The winter exhibition 2025/26 in our Gallery M2 complements the exhibition in the main gallery dedicated to FRANZ KRAUTGASSER (1920-1985) by focusing on Tyrolean artists of this period in a broader temporal context. Starting with Tyrolean Modernism and the new beginning of painting after 1945, this movement also influenced the following generation and produced important artists. Traditionally, there were also close ties and personal friendships between generations of local artists. Through the mediation of already established artists, young painters were able to attend the academy in Vienna, where they often lived and worked together in shared apartments or in the so-called ‘Tirolerheim’. This resulted in joint painting trips and large group exhibitions, including abroad. The programmatic title KUNSTSALON TIROL takes up this idea of a comprehensive exhibition and presents a beautiful selection of different works in various formats and techniques in a typical salon hanging: oil paintings, watercolors, drawings, and (print) graphics. A salon wall can also be seen in the M1 gallery as a preview.
