New Year's concert Reutte

Strauss Fever!

Works by Johann Strauss (son), Fritz Kreisler and Kjell Roikjer

In the 19th century, Strauss fever probably didn't stop at anyone - Johann Strauss (father) and his sons Johann, Josef and Eduard were real "pop stars" in their day. They regularly thrilled the masses with their dance music. 2025 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Johann Strauss (son) - all the more reason to celebrate him properly!

At the New Year's Concert 2025, we will therefore be presenting a colorful bouquet of atmospheric waltzes, polkas and marches, including some of his greatest "hits" as well as some lesser-known "delicacies" from Strauss's repertoire.
The musical direction of the New Year's Concert is in the experienced hands of Martin Sieghart, an absolute Strauss expert. And since the music of the Waltz King always invites you to dance, we are explicitly asking one instrument to dance (solo) with the TSOI: namely the tuba. (Yes, you read that right!)

The versatile instrumentalist and award-winning (2013 ECHO) tuba player Andreas Martin Hofmeir, member of the Bavarian cult band LaBrassBanda, cabaret artist and gifted entertainer, will elicit surprisingly fine and virtuoso sounds from his instrument and show that the tuba is anything but sedate.

Together with the Viennese conductor Martin Sieghart, who in the past was chief conductor of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, among others, he will humorously guide us through the program and into the new year. As a special guest, we also welcome the Austrian zither virtuoso Wilfried Scharf, who has already performed as a zither soloist with Tales from the Vienna Woods at the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert.
