Nordkette Vertical Run
The Nordkette Vertical Run is already a fixture in Innsbruck: From the city, it goes up to the Seegrube, with breathtaking views over Innsbruck. The legendary vertical route over 6.7 km and 1,332 metres of elevation gain is a challenge for everyone, and the backdrop of the steep mountain range and the provincial capital is absolutely unique.
A highlight of the Nordkette Vertical Run is the steep cable car platform and its steps, the ‘Wadlbeißer’ – a special challenge for runners in the final part of the race!
From the Löwenhaus, the route runs a few metres alongside the Inn until it crosses the Hans-Psenner-Steg bridge and then continues along the more natural Heinrich-Süß-Weg path to the Alpine Zoo and on to the Hungerburg. At the Nordkettenbahn cable car, the route turns back into nature and then follows the cable car platform up to the Seegrube.
Since 2023, the Nordkette Vertical Run has been certified as a Green Event by the province of Tyrol. Numerous sustainability measures are implemented to keep the environmental impact as low as possible.
