Easterfestival Tyrol | Lazzaro felice

Lazzaro felice is the story of an unassuming saint who performs no miracles, possesses no special abilities and has no magical powers – a story without special effects. A saint who lives in this world and thinks no ill of anyone, who always believes in people. A story that speaks of the possibility of goodness, which people have always ignored and which nevertheless keeps reappearing to challenge them; like something that could have been, but which we never wanted. Lazzaro felice is a political manifesto, a fairy tale about the history of Italy over the last fifty years, a song. Alice Rohrwacher A few dozen farmers and farm labourers are exploited in a remote place under the rule of the Marchesa. They do not know that their enslavement has long been illegal. It also remains unclear exactly when and where they must perform their corvée labour. Lazzaro, the Happy One, is one of them. And one day he may well rise again, like his biblical counterpart, to find himself in a different time with different mechanisms of exploitation. His story is a fairy tale or a myth, between earth and sky, between magic and realism.
