"Patscher Schellenschlagerinnen" - traditional carnival parade in Patsch

The carnival custom of the `Patscher Schellenschlagerinnen´ takes place every year on Fat Thursday and is recognised as an UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Although the traditional `Schellenschlagen` can also be observed in other villages, in contrast to the other carnival events in Tyrol, the performers in Patsch are exclusively women.
The traditional parade through the village starts at 2.00 pm on the village square in front of the community centre. At designated locations in the village centre, spectators can enjoy impressive performances of traditional customs. The Schellenschlagerinnen are accompanied by the Patsch customs group, the Patsch brass band and the `Original Patscher Fögler´.
