Peter Pan – The Dark Side

Peter Pan, but without Disney and not for small children! This opera by Tyrolean composer Wolfgang Mitterer with a libretto by Sir David Pountney exposes the dark side of the well-known Pan story in evocative colors. Love and violence, child abuse, excess and loss of reality plunge Wendy and her siblings into a maelstrom of dark fantasy. With genuine British-Austrian humor, Mitterer creates a soundscape with a double bottom: The conscious and the unconscious pull at the audience and characters as if on a rubber band - sometimes cheerful, sometimesdrohilarious. But the adventurous also get their money's worth. Whether promiscuous fairies or the indispensable crocodile: there's something for everyone here!
