PLASTICPHONIA

For the official opening of the Positive Futures Festival, Crystn Hunt transforms Akron plastic waste into captivating sound art, and Maria W Horn explores inherent spectral sound properties. A collaboration with Stromboli for the 2025 Climate Culture Days.

Composer Maria W Horn explores spectral sound properties in her works. She combines analogue synthesizers with choir, strings, organ and chamber music. Through precise control of timbre, mood and texture, she expands sonic possibilities. In her most recent works, she uses acoustic artefacts from physical spaces and condenses them into multi-layered sound structures.

Crystn Hunt Akron transforms plastic waste into captivating sound art. For PLASTICPHONIA, she collects plastic waste with Clean Up the Beaches, for example. From these found objects, she creates unique samples for her own compositions. Trash goes Music – a statement on the throwaway society. Multimedia artist TOFA complements live visuals: real and sound-reactive AI images and 3D animations create an audiovisual symbiosis that encourages reflection.
