Positive Futures Festival with These New Puritans, John Francis Flynn, ČARALICE
These New Puritans return with Crooked Wing: brutal, beautiful, visionary. Field recordings of an ancient Greek Orthodox church bell find their counterpart in the industrial cacophony that embodies the band's characteristic balance. Organs, old bells, and percussion form non-linear song structures. Between machines, underworlds, and the fragility of human existence, their most meditative work to date emerges.
John Francis Flynn deconstructs Irish folk traditions into dense, psychedelic, trance-like, yet jagged, disharmonious soundscapes. Look Over The Wall, See The Sky exposes Ireland's postcard idyll and confronts it with harsh social reality: tech giants, the highest rents in Europe, homelessness. Distorted clarinets, drones, and noise connect the past with the present—between anger and the hope for a different Ireland.
ČARALICE is a profound project dedicated to the connection between humans and nature. In search of forgotten wisdom, the eight artists immerse themselves in ancient ritual songs and magical incantations. Rooted in Slavic and Balkan traditions, they use throat singing, improvisation, and the raw energy of the live moment. Powerful sounds evoke knowledge thought to be lost—a musical appeal to listen to the earth again.
