Grouse - survival artists in the mountains. Exciting lecture at the Alpine Zoo
How do grouse manage to survive in the cold and extreme habitats of the Alps?
In an exciting lecture, you will get to know the four grouse species native to the Alps and learn about the ingenious tricks they use to adapt to their habitats - from snow caves and "snow shoes" to perfect camouflage plumage.
At the same time, we take a look at the challenges faced by these special birds: Habitat loss, recreational activities and climate change are taking their toll. Our guest speaker Elena Weindel, an expert on grouse at the Bavarian State Ornithological Institute, explains why the protection of these animals is so important and how everyone can contribute.
