Relaunch of the Tiroler Tageszeitung

To mark its 80th anniversary, the Tiroler Tageszeitung—the daily newspaper with the highest circulation in Western Austria—gave itself a new design in November of last year. “The world is changing, and we are changing with it,” wrote the two editors-in-chief, Matthias Krapf and Marco Witting, in the first issue featuring the new design. “In an age of information overload, we see it as our duty to provide you with guidance. Our relaunch features a modern, high-quality layout that ensures greater clarity.”
The goal of the print edition’s graphic redesign was to preserve the newspaper’s familiar character while bringing it into a contemporary form with clear navigation: serious, unpretentious, and uncluttered. – We will discuss how this was achieved and what hurdles and challenges had to be overcome along the way with TT Editor-in-Chief Matthias Krapf and Tobias Peier from the design studio Bodara Design in Zurich during a conversation at the Journalism Festival Innsbruck 2026.
Lecture and discussion in cooperation with and as part of the Journalism Festival Innsbruck 2026.
