Quiet, please!

Someone walks into the classroom. Someone we don’t know, someone who doesn’t belong here. Someone who’s supposed to help out—but certainly not us. Why should we be quiet? Why show respect when it hasn’t been earned yet? After all: We’re a class, we’re
strong, unbeatable together—and suspicious when someone shows us weakness.

“Quiet, please!” is a play about power and powerlessness, about leading and following, about the fine line between democracy and authority. Why do we obey—or why not? And what happens when everything falls apart?
