The fairytale "Swan Lake" story of the enchanted Princess Odette is one of the great, timeless classics of ballet. The story tells of Prince Siegfried, who decides to go hunting. As the prince prepares to shoot, the most graceful of the swans throws itself in his path and transforms into a beautiful woman before his eyes. It is Odette, the queen of the swans. She has been bewitched by the sorcerer Redbeard and can only be freed by swearing eternal loyalty and true love. The prince promises to honour this oath, but Redbeard gets in his way and the battle for true love begins.
