The Gründerzeit building, prominently located at the junction of Burggraben and Museumstraße, underwent several renovations during the 20th century. In line with inner-city densification, the two-part building was to be raised, but for structural reasons, the front section had to be rebuilt. Henke Schreieck Architects drew on the façade structure of the 1960s and transformed the heterogeneous building into a calm whole accentuated at the corner.
