Family Carnival on Shrove Tuesday

On Shrove Tuesday, 17 February 2026, Innsbruck city centre will be transformed into a colourful stage for lively customs, music and a varied family programme. For the first time, there will be a large carnival parade, organised in collaboration with traditional Innsbruck associations, marching bands and carnival groups.

Carnival parade | 2:00 p.m. to approx. 4:00 p.m.

In collaboration with Innsbruck's traditional groups, the parade will proceed from Boznerplatz via Meraner Straße to Maria-Theresien-Straße. Along the route, short performances and planned show stops will ensure a colourful and lively carnival experience.

Children's carnival at Sparkassenplatz | 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm

A separate, quieter children's area is available for families. Craft and play stations, hands-on activities and face painting ensure a lively carnival atmosphere for the youngest visitors.

Stage programme on Maria-Theresien-Straße | 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A varied entertainment programme awaits visitors on a large stage with presenter Eric Papilaya, DJ Benny (2:00 pm to 6:00 pm) and live music from the young Tyrolean party band Youngblood (6:00 pm to 8:00 pm). The participating groups will also be presenting themselves. A photo booth and food stands from local businesses round off the programme.
