Family Carnival on Shrove Tuesday

On Shrove Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Innsbruck's city center will be transformed into a colorful stage for customs, music, and family entertainment. For the first time, there will be a large carnival parade, organized in collaboration with traditional Innsbruck associations, marching bands, and carnival groups.

Carnival parade – 2:00 p.m. to approx. 4:00 p.m.
Together with Innsbruck's traditional groups, there will be a carnival parade this year. The starting point is Boznerplatz, from where the parade will proceed along Meranerstraße to Maria-Theresien-Straße. Short performances and show stops are planned along the route.

Stage program on Maria-Theresien-Straße – until 8:00 p.m.

A large stage on Maria-Theresien-Straße will provide entertainment: the program includes moderation, a DJ, live music with the young Tyrolean party band Youngblood, and presentations by the participating groups. A photo booth and food stands from local businesses round out the offerings.

Children's carnival on Sparkassenplatz – 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
For families, there is a separate, quieter children's area with craft and play stations, hands-on activities, and face painting.
