Mensa sonora - Baroque dining and culinary delights
The Verein Alte Musik in Innsbruck-Mariahilf is celebrating a quarter of a century of existence, which we naturally take as a welcome occasion to celebrate: We are offering our valued audience the special opportunity to dine in princely style at the Kulturgasthaus Bierstindl. When princes dine in baroque style and with all the pomp and circumstance required, exquisite table music is absolutely essential: this comes from one of the great violin virtuosos of his time, Master Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber. There are a number of printed collections of instrumental chamber music from his pen, but only one of them is specifically labelled as table music: The Mensa sonora, the sounding table. Peter Waldner was able to recruit first-class musicians for his house ensemble vita & anima, with whom he presents a selection of marvellous sonatas da camera from this collection - as entertaining and sophisticated music for the table and at the same time as splendid festive music for the anniversary of our association.
Celebrate life, music and baroque joie de vivre with us! Biber expressed them inimitably in the Mensa sonora, which he dedicated to his aristocratic employer Prince Archbishop Max Gandolph von Kuenburg in Salzburg.
