New Year's Concert 2027

Join TLT Principal Conductor Gerrit Prießnitz, soprano Julia Grüter, and the TSOI in welcoming the New Year. Look forward to a program featuring melodies from the Viennese Classical period, the Romantic era, and operetta—a selection that invites you to dream while putting you in the mood for champagne.

Ludwig van Beethoven’s Egmont Overture sets a festive atmosphere and adds a touch of drama at the start of the concert. In 2027, the music world will commemorate the 200th anniversary of this great composer’s death.

Julia Grüter then delves into the world of diverse arias by Beethoven, Dvořák, Strauss, and Lehár, all revolving around the dream of romantic happiness. The famous “Song to the Moon” from Antonín Dvořák’s opera Rusalka is considered one of the most atmospheric arias of the Romantic era. Musically enchanting in its beauty, it transports the listener into a magical, dreamlike world of sound, filled with a longing for love and fulfillment. Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances, in turn, are characterized by a dance-like zest for life. In the second part of the concert, the unmistakable charm of the Viennese operetta unfolds with works by Johann Strauss and Franz Lehár: In addition to an absolute New Year’s classic—the lively Tritsch-Tratsch Polkathe program includes , among other pieces, the Csárdás from Johann Strauss’s operetta Die Fledermaus , in which wistful dreaming and dance-like rhythms come together.
