New Year's Concert 2027
Welcome in the New Year together with TLT principal conductor Gerrit Prießnitz, soprano Julia Grüter, and the TSOI. Look forward to a program featuring melodies from Viennese classical, romantic, and operetta music that will inspire you to dream and put you in a champagne mood.
Ludwig van Beethoven's Egmont Overture sets a festive mood and adds a touch of drama at the beginning of the concert. In 2027, the music world will commemorate the 200th anniversary of this great composer's death.
Julia Grüter then delves into the world of various arias by Beethoven, Dvořák, Strauss, and Lehár, which revolve around the dream of romantic happiness. The famous song to the moon from Antonín Dvořák's opera Rusalka is considered one of the most atmospheric arias of the Romantic period. Musically enchanting, it transports the listener into a magical, dreamlike world of sound full of longing for love and fulfillment. Dvořák's Slavonic Dances, on the other hand, are characterized by a joyful zest for life. In the second part of the concert, works by Johann Strauss and Franz Lehár unfold the unmistakable charm of Viennese operetta: in addition to an absolute New Year's classic – the lively Tritsch-Tratsch Polka – the program includes the Csárdás from Johann Strauss' operetta Die Fledermaus , in which wistful dreams and dance rhythms unite.
