Lecture Series - Acute and Chronic Diseases and Injuries

Prof. Rohit Arora, Dr.
Director, University Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology
Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria
This lecture addresses acute and chronic diseases as well as injuries of the musculoskeletal system and highlights how targeted medical and rehabilitative interventions can help reduce disabilities and functional limitations. In addition to clinical aspects, the lecture also examines psychosocial consequences, prevention, and innovative therapeutic approaches. Perceptions and care are critically discussed. Pain, limited mobility, muscle atrophy, improper weight-bearing, and psychosocial consequences such as depression, isolation, and unemployment can, in combination with additional environmental factors, lead to disability. The goal is to identify ways to primarily improve—or sustainably strengthen—the participation and quality of life of people with injuries.
