Visits to a doctor's surgery can present a variety of challenges for people on the autism spectrum. For example, the waiting situation due to sensory hypersensitivity as well as the unpredictability of the examination situation itself can be very overwhelming for people on the autism spectrum.
As a doctor and healthcare professional, you have the opportunity to make the examination process easier for people on the autism spectrum. The aim of the lecture is therefore to give you ideas on what preparations you can make and what you can directly consider when communicating with people on the autism spectrum.
