Half a millennium has passed since the Tyrolean mining industry experienced its heyday. In the 15th and 16th centuries, it enjoyed a reputation far beyond its borders that promised endless wealth. Today, all that remains are forgotten tunnels, plundered caves, and abandoned shafts. A multitude of empty spaces, hidden in the mountain landscapes around Innsbruck. To find these so-called miners' holes, you have to know where to look. Only a few of these places are known to the general public. Most exist only in the memories of past generations.
